Privacy policy

This policy covers the Android app Dog Play Journal (version 1.0.0) and the website dogplayjournal.click. In short: the app stores everything only on your phone and sends nothing.

1. Contact

For questions about privacy, and for access or deletion requests, write to [email protected]. This is the one contact address for support and privacy.

2. What the app processes

Only what you enter yourself: dog profiles (name, breed, year of birth, size, weekly play goal, notes), games and toys, play sessions and walks (date, time, minutes, distance, enjoyment ratings, energy levels, behaviour labels, who played, place, notes, tags), behaviour notes, photos you add with captions, routines, settings and the history of changes.

3. Stored only on your phone

All data is kept in the app’s private storage on your phone. There is no account, no server and no cloud sync. The app has no internet permission, so it cannot send data anywhere. We as the publisher receive none of your data and cannot see or restore it.

4. Photos

Photos are chosen in the Android photo picker. The app only receives the photos you pick, keeps a copy in its own storage and never changes or deletes the originals in your gallery. The app does not use the camera and asks for no access to your photo library.

5. Export, sharing and backup

Data leaves your phone only when you choose to: you can create a PDF report, CSV tables or a text summary, and a backup file of all data (photos are included only if you tick “Include photos”), and send them through the Android share menu to an app of your choice or save them in a folder you pick. What happens to these files afterwards is governed by the app or storage place you chose. When restoring a backup, the app reads the file you select on the phone itself.

6. Permissions

The only permission is vibration, used for the optional short cue of the play timer. The app asks for no location, camera, microphone, contacts, storage or photo permission, and sends no notifications.

7. No ads, no analytics, no tracking

The app contains no advertising, no analytics, crash-reporting or tracking tools, no advertising ID and no in-app purchases.

8. Retention and deletion

Your data stays until you delete it: single entries in the app, everything under “More → Backup and data → Delete all data on this phone”, or by uninstalling the app. Exported files and backups stay wherever you saved or sent them.

9. This website

This website uses no cookies, no analytics and no third-party services; fonts and images are served from its own server. The server may keep technically necessary access logs (for example IP address, time and page requested) for a short time to run the site securely.

10. Your rights

Under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 you have rights of access, rectification and erasure. As we receive no data from the app, you can exercise them directly in the app. For any request, write to [email protected]. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).

11. Children

The app is made for adult dog owners and is not directed at children.

12. Not veterinary advice

The app is a personal journal of your dog’s play. It gives no veterinary or behavioural advice.

13. Changes

If the way the app handles data changes, we will update this policy and publish the new version on this page.
